The Boston Business Journal recently awarded College Bound and Deloitte with the title of “Partners of the Year” at the 2015 Corporate Citizenship Summit. This distinction places the pair among Massachusetts’ leaders in corporate philanthropy for their work together on the innovative College Connections program. The collaboration between Deloitte and College Bound connects the skills and talent of the Deloitte network with at-risk students to help build their skills and experience to graduate college. Together, the two are transforming the way education and skills are delivered to students who are disruptive and disconnected.
“At Deloitte, we believe in making an impact in the communities where we work and live, and one of the ways we do this is through our focus on education,” said Deloitte’s Rebecca Hildebrand. “We are proud to support College Bound Dorchester and provide a path for under-privileged students to complete their education and gain access to college. Through our work with nonprofits such as College Bound, Deloitte is helping strengthen America’s workforce by enabling leadership in others.”
With Deloitte’s support, College Bound has been able to strengthen the job-readiness component of the College Connections program, through resume-building and mock interview workshops. The collaboration has gradually expanded over the last five years from involvement in Impact Day volunteering activities to Deloitte helping to strengthen College Bound’s job-readiness instruction and facilitating strategic planning in preparation for the organization’s expansion into new communities in 2017.
“College Bound serves the students that most others have given up on,” said Mark Culltion, CEO of College Bound. “It is invaluable to work with Deloitte, an organization with the tenacity, grit, and perseverance to see the genius of our students and help us unlock it. This collaboration allows us to continuously strengthen our programs and widen the transformative impact we have on the communities we serve.”
